Rethinking daily tool carry
A body of tool additions and accessories for the modern craftsperson
The world of everyday carry setups and tool brands is a very traditionally masculine space. The focus rests on function and seemingly tiptoes around fashion, prioritizing a very specific look based on mechanics and use.
MOD is made to embrace stylistic beauty in functional objects. Many of my everyday tools I felt had so much room for a different look, something that didn’t fear being perceived as feminine.
As more women are doing manual labor jobs and more women are carrying tools on the daily, we shouldn’t be afraid of tools looking more feminine.
The world is being modified and modernized, and our tools should be too.

The classic knife is reimagined as a smooth contoured shape.
MOD was a project born out of my observations of women in the shops at school, women working trade jobs, my own experience in industrial design, and the relationship that we have with our tools. All of my design work centers around the relationships that we have with the objects we use, and how they become extensions of us, my tools never felt like that was the case. Tools are primarily designed for men, size, color, shape, etc. all prioritize the needs of men and deliberately avoid any perceived femininity. I remade a few of the tools and accessories I use regularly in hopes of feeling like something really was finally made for me.
